Bitumen emulsions are colloid systems where the bitumen connective tissue is sprinkled in the form of tiny particles in the water phase that contains anion or cation emulsifier.

Bitumen emulsions

Bituminous emulsions are used with temperatures from 10ºC to 60ºC, so no harmful bituminous vapors are used when used and energy savings can be made.

The production of emulsions has seen a qualitative leap forward. Emulsions with an increased content of bitumen of higher viscosity and the use of polymer-modified bitumen are produced. This is how a higher quality connective tissue is obtained, which enables the use of bitumen emulsions in new technologies (recycling of old asphalt, micro-asphalt), that is, the quality of older technologies is improved (surface treatment).
